Major refurbishment to a domestic property. Situated a stones throw from the Northcote Road, this family home is in a very desirable location with an abundance of shops, restaurants and cafes.
The main contractor leading the renovations on this project had a great deal to contend with on site. As the property was a terraced house the site had very restricted access, also due to the neighboring property having previously constructed a basement, the underpinning had encroached over the boundary line which meant this had to be taken back . Adding to this, to prevent structural movement, the concrete structure had to be completed in a phased approach. Removing the ground and pouring sections of concrete at a time.
Working together the team at DWP Membranes assisted the main contractor in preparing the perimeter walls so that Delta Polysil TG 500 could be spray applied. This product is used to prevent lime build up and is a primer/liquid hardener for the Koster NB-1 that was then applied to all walls and floors helping to prevent free water entering the basement.
Delta MS 500 was then installed to all of the basement perimeter walls. Additional fixing points included to allow for service tracking and dry-lining to be mounted. Delta PT-lath, a meshed cavity membrane was installed to the front lightwell. This allowed the main contractor to apply a lightweight render reducing the space lost from introducing dry-lining.
A modular system was used for the drainage on this project. Any free water entering the structure will make its way behind the cavity membrane system and would be collected by the sub floor drainage located at multiple points across the floor slab. Diverting it to a pre-formed sump chamber, allowing for the water to be discharged efficiently.
To complete the system a 20mm floor membrane was laid, then sealed to walls and service entry points.
Another very satisfied client. The main contractor was very impressed with the time frame and the quality of the work completed.
